USC running back Stafon Johnson was injured Monday morning in a weight lifting accident at the USC. Lifting weights under the supervision of an assistant athletic trainer, Johnson his right hand slipped as he was bench pressing. The bar landed on his throat. After coughing up blood, he was rushed to the emergency room where he underwent surgery.

USC's strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle said an accident of this nature was rare,"I've seen players have the bar slip and fall onto their chest, but never in my 25 years of coaching have I heard of someone dropping a bar on their throat."

ESPN.com initially reported that it was unlikely Johnson will be ready to play against Cal at Saturday. Head Coach Pete Carroll added "We don't have a lot of information at this point, and we'll keep everyone updated, but our thoughts and prayers are with Stafon." After practice Carroll addressed the media and reiterated that he didn't know much more than Johnson suffered a serious injury and that he wouldn't know anything until after surgery.

Johnson, a senior from Dorsey High, has 157 rushing yards and a team leading five touchdowns this season. The incident launched a frenzy of Twitter messages about the star running back as well-wishers and fans hoped for a quick recovery. Apparently Johnson is pretty popular, being the number one searched term recently, according to Fad.ly.

As we reported earlier today, actress and singer Mackenzie Phillips, has just revealed the shocking family secret that she had kept hidden for 31 years. And it turns out, that the secret she had been hiding was that she’d slept with her father.

This has obviously come as a shock to many, as Mackenzie’s father was John Phillips, better known as Papa John from the 1960’s band, The Mamas & The Papas. John Phillips is the father to Jeffrey, Mackenzie, Chynna, Tamerlane and Bijou.

John Phillips was born in South Carolina, to a retired United States Marine Corps officer and a Cherokee Indian, who his father apparently met in Oklahoma. In his autobiography, John Phillips described his father as a heavy drinker.

Phillips had been married four times, with his first wife being Susan Adams, who is the mother of Jeffrey and Mackenzie Phillips. His second wife was Michelle Gilliam, who was also a member of the group The Mamas & The Papas.

The Mamas & The Papas were formed in the 1960’s and included the members Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips and Denny Doherty, as well as John Phillips, who was the primary songwriter for the group. They went on to have several top 10 hits.

They split up in 1968 and in1970, John Phillips released his first solo album. That is when John started using narcotics. In 1972, he married his third wife, Genevieve Waite. John then moved to London in 1973, where he worked with Mick Jagger.

Then in 1981, John was convicted of drug trafficking. Could this be where Mackenzie got her drug problems from? Mackenzie says that it started, with her father raping her when she was unconscious, but soon turned into a consensual relationship.

Cleveland Cavaliers Star Delonte West Arrested on Weapons Charges

An NBA star and former area high school player was pulled over and arrested in Prince George's County on Thursday night after a police officer found he was carrying three loaded guns, authorities said.

Delonte West, a guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle north on Interstate 95 near Route 214 in the Largo area when he cut off a Prince George's County police officer, authorities said. The officer pulled him over, and West told the officer that he was carrying a handgun in his waistband.

That prompted the officer to call for backup, and investigators found that West was actually carrying three guns: a Beretta 9mm in his waistband, a Ruger .357 strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a guitar case slung over his back, said Maj. Andy Ellis, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department.

West, who is 26 and lives in Brandywine, was arrested and charged with speeding and two counts of carrying a handgun, Ellis said. He was released today on personal recognizance, according to Ellis and online court records.

Ellis said it was unclear where West was going and why he was armed.

CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Mon. Sept. 14, 2009: The mother of Jamaican reggae singer, Beres Hammond, has passed away at the phenomenal age of 98.

Roslyn Patterson passed away on September 12th in Port Maria, St. Mary, West Indian Times reports indicate. Patterson was born in Portland, Jamaica but lived most of her life in Annatto Bay, St. Mary, the website reported. Mrs. Patterson was also the grandmother of Sharon Gordon of TSO Productions.

Hammond, born Hugh Beresford Hammond, in Annotto Bay, Saint Mary, Jamaica is known in particular for his romantic lovers rock. His career began in the 1970s but he reached his greatest success in the 1990s. His first album of the new millennium was 2001`s Music Is Life, which featured an appearance by Wyclef Jean.

The 2004 release Love Has No Boundaries, had guest spots by Buju Banton and Big Youth.

November, 2008 saw the release, by VP Records, of yet another album `A Moment In Time` featuring the single `I Feel Good`.
